The turn out on opening day ended up being 1,192 which was a record breaking feat for the Borgata Poker Open. This is extremely good news to the World Poker Tour which includes the poker tournament in its season. The last WPT event, the Legends of Poker Tournament, turned out a disappointing 797 players.
Though both tournaments had the same price tag of a $300 entry fee on the first day’s event, the Borgata could very likely have gotten a boost from lowering the cost. Last year the Borgata had a $500 entry fee for the opening day event and drew in 940 players. Entry fee costs appear to have been a factor in the WPT Legends of Poker Tournament turnout over the years with the player counts fluctuating with the entry fee amount.
The Borgata Poker Open will consist of 16 events spanning two weeks with the $10,000 World Poker Tour Main Event happening Sept. 14-18th. The tournament is heavily focused on No Limit Hold’em though there is a Limit Hold’em event and 7 Card Stud event thrown in the mix.
Players can get in on the action at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa where registration takes place at
