Poker has seen a surge in popularity of late and in Asia that’s no exception. In fact, the Asian Poker Tour has seen such positive turn outs this year they plan to increase the number of tournaments they sponsor next year. To help them with the expansion the APT is enlisting the help of poker pros.
The Asian Poker Tour is taking full advantage of the celebrity status that surrounds the pro poker players in hopes of increasing their own visibility. The APT has recently signed three pros on to their team; Quinn Do, Nam Le and J.C. Tran. The CEO of AsianLogic, the entity that operates the APT, has this to say, “We have big plans for these guys and are happy they signed with us to spread the word about the APT worldwide.”
The three pros will act as ambassadors for the APT as they make their way around the world poker circuits. Two of these ambassadors have already reaped rewards from the APT in the form of winnings this year. Nam Le took home top prize in the APT Macau High Rollers event for $474,358 and in that same tournament Quinn Do got 3rd place for $153,846.
Nam Le has made a name for himself in the U.S. by making it to a WSOP final table more than once for huge cashes as well as winning on the World Poker Tour circuit. J.C. Tran is one of the best known faces in poker having made millions already winning WSOP and WPT titles and won the 2006 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker Main Event proving he’s a threat both in live games and online. Quinn Do has his own WSOP bracelet and has made it to the final table of the WPT multiple times playing against some of the best poker players in the world.
