MySpace and the World Poker Tour Create MySpace WPT Community

By Zach Purgason

No one can contest that MySpace is a giant in the internet universe, to some it would represent the sun of the virtual world.  Even an organization as big as the World Poker Tour knows it needs to enlist the help of such a giant from time to time.  That’s why the WPT is launching new online entertainment through MySpace, not its own site.

As far as online communities go, MySpace is it.  And when the WPT decided to up its visibility and usability online with more interactive fare that’s where WPT went.  MySpace and the World Poker Tour have teamed up to create the MySpace WPT Community, and it’s the best of both worlds.  MySpace WPT Community is most likely going to become the hub for poker enthusiasts, especially those who follow the WPT.

The features include not just content material like expert playing tips, poker news and player profiles, but there’s also forums and interact with the pros as well as behind the scenes videos of the WPT, tournament coverage and the new online channel ClubWPT.com.  For those who were looking for another place to play you could also do that at the MySpace WPT Community as well.

The community is a ground-breaking social networking site that has the potential to become massive, which spells opportunity to the WPT.  ClubWPT.com is part of a new subscription the WPT is offering poker players.  For a monthly fee subscription members will have exclusive access to the channel’s tv series, chances to play to win $100,000 each month and chances each month to win prizes like a seat at a WPT Main Event.

Far reaching as online poker is and with the popularity the sport has come into recently we predict with some assuredness that the venture will turn out good for the WPT, online poker and MySpace.  Giants we thought couldn’t get bigger just did.
