Poker After Dark Is Where the Money’s At

By David Richardson

If you’re like most of us during this economic downturn you probably haven’t seen wads of cash in a while.  However, there are some that still have large banks to throw around at the poker table, and they’re willing to entertain us with it.  If you want to see the cash that’s been evading the economy then Poker After Dark is where you want to be.

The NBC show which features big name poker pros, has changed their formatting around this season and now cash games have replaced the tournament play format.  The change has increased the buy in from a hefty $20,000 to a whopping $100,000 as if the stakes weren’t high enough already.  But the switch to cash games seems to be making us cash starved Americans salivate which is definitely good for the show’s ratings.

The six players who will be battling it out this week in Poker After Dark’s $200/400 No Limit cash games will be Doyle Brunson, Dee Tiller, Patrik Antonius , Eli Elezra, Gabe Kaplan and Howard Lederer.  All but Tiller are regulars at big money cash tables like those in the Bellagio as well as regulars on Poker After Dark and its rival show High Stakes Poker on the HSN channel.

Dee Tiller is an amateur from Texas that is definitely the least experienced at this week’s table.  Tiller categorizes himself as a loose player, but he may want to tighten up his game around the sharks at Poker After Dark. However, he is getting the rare experience of the cash game format which will be returned to normal tournament play after this week.
