This Friday, September 26th, just mere hours before the grand finale of the WSOPE Doyle Brunson will face off against Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad in a poker game that’s sure to be remembered for some time. The game of course in No Limit Texas Hold’em and will commence at the Casino at the Empire in London where the WSOPE is taking place at this very moment.
The head’s up match won’t be typical and not just because of who’s playing. Instead of deciding the winner by chips Brunson and Obrestad will play a best 2 out of 3 game session to name a champ. It guarantees to be quite interesting since the two pros have made their way onto the poker scene and made a name for themselves in very different ways.
Brunson is one of the best known pro poker players in the world and has been a face of poker for decades. Brunson earned his cred playing on the felt in Las Vegas casinos where he is known as a highly skilled high stakes player. Among Brunson’s list of achievements is 10 WSOP bracelets from 1977 to 2005, his own poker room DoylesRoom, two of the most definitive books on poker that have ever been written- The Super System and The Super System II, has won millions in tournament play and has already been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. He is even credited as one of the people who brought Texas Hold’em to Las Vegas, which means Obrestad better be on her game.
But at just 19 years old Obrestad is far past the experience and achievements that Brunson had at the same age. She’s also one of the top online poker players in the world adding to the hype of this new player playing field. Obrestad became a celebrity overnight after winning the first WSOPE last year for nearly $2 million. In the online realm she has reported made hundreds of thousands never even using a penny of her own money and is the face of the poker room BetFair.
